RJA #15: Reflection

During the course of the semester I learned how to use more Internet search engines like Bing and Redz. I also learned many things about my topic on our research topic. I learned more about the pine beetle infestation in Colorado. That includes what were doing to help prevent the spread such as control burning, clear cutting, chemical spraying and more. I will be able to apply this to my major in the future because I will be helping with problems in nature like the pine beetle infestation. Another thing I learned during this class is how to use a blog.

RJA #14a: Application Project Progress Report

#1.
#2. I have completed almost half of my story for my project. I have written about the introduction to the story, including the way to Pearl Lake and what it means to me. I have completed some of the body paragraphs explaining what my family is doing at Pearl Lake. This includes what some of the traditional things we do. Not only this but the problem is introduced about the Pine Beetle Infestation, and how it has taken over the campgrounds.
#3. I still need to go over what I plan to do with the rest of my paper. This includes going more in depth of what the problem is. After that i need to add the solutions to the problem in a creative way throughout my story. Then there still needs to be something like a conclusion to wrap everything up.

RJA #13c: Application Project Example

. unfortunately I can't find any short stories with any genre anywhere close to my own. My genre includes a family trying to go camping, and while doing so trying to save the campsite and the pine beetle trees.

RJA #13b: Application Project Plan

.The Plan
The plan for my application project is to write a short story. The short story will be about a family going camping to one of their favorite spots, where they have been going for many years. The only problem is that throughout all those years the campgrounds, and the area around it was perfect except this time. Upon arrival they will see the devastation of the pine beetle, and what it has done to their paradise. Then the family shall go on an adventure trying to save their campground, and informing people of the problem.

RJA #12b: Field Research Report

* Field Reasearch
I conducted a survey asking random people all over Colorado about the Pine Beetle Infestation.
These questions included...
.Do you know what the Pine Beetle Infestation is?
.Did you know that there is an infestation of Pine Beetles in Colorado?
.If you did know that there was an infestation in Colorado, do you know the extent of the problem?
.If you came accross a tree thatwas infescted with the Pine Beetle would you know what to do?
During my field research project I found out that many people don't understand what the Pine Beetle Infestation is.
After asking fifty different individuals these questions, I came to a shocking realization of how bad the awareness is of the Pine Beetle Infestation. Out of fifty individuals, thirty of them couldn’t even get passed the first question. That is sixty percent of the group that had no idea what the Pine Beetle was or knew anything about the problem. Out of the remaining fourty percent, thirty percent of these individuals knew that there was a big problem with the Pine Beetle Infestation, but didn’t know what to do if there was an infected tree. Only five (10%) of the fifty individuals had a clear understanding of what the Pine Beetle Infestation was, and knew what to do if they had come across an infected area. This is truly alarming because nothing can be done to save the Pine Trees if no one knows what it is.
